VIEW THE WORLD THROUGH MY HEART

View the World Through my Heart

I don’t mean to make you cry.

I just want to pull your heartstrings,

touch your soul,

touch your heart,

and make you think.

I want you to view

the world in a different light.

I want to make you smile

and laugh.

If I can do that,

then my poetry

is not written in vain.

Then to me, my poetry is priceless

and worth more than gold.

THE PROBLEM WITH BEING CHILDLESS

The Problem With Being Childless

The problem with being childless
is that you will never
feel a baby’s heart beating
or move around inside you.

You will never have a chance to name a baby.
The problem with being childless
is that you will never hear
a baby’s first word,

you will never see
a baby’s first step
or watch him walk or crawl.
You will never have bragging rights

to tell your friends how cute
your baby is or what he did today.
You will never have a chance
to be proud as your baby

goes to school for the first time.
You will never watch a child
turn into a teenager.
You will never have a chance to

have a mother-daughter talk
or mother-son talk
about life or help solve
his or her problems.

You will never have the privilege
to see your teenager
going to the school prom and/or school dance.
You will never have the privilege and

be proud to watch your teenager
graduating from high school.
You will never have the privilege
to see your child become an adult,
get married and have a child.

Look on the bright side
you will never have to worry
about someone telling you
how to raise your child.

You will never have to worry
about a predator messing
with your child or worry
about your child being
missing, or runaway or being killed

or never have to worry about
your child taking drugs.
You will never have to worry about
going to jail because someone
has accused you of abusing your child.

Look on the bright side,
you have more time to have
a poetry book published
and you have more time to write.

THE PRICELESS GIFT OF FRIENDSHIP

The Priceless Gift of Friendship

The priceless gift of friendship
is a gift of only you can give.
Friendship can’t be bought,
traded or won
or forced on someone.
It can’t be wrapped up
in a fancy bow.
It doesn’t come with
a price tag
and it’s worth more than gold.
It is more precious
than material things.
It is being a friend
to someone in need
or who just wants a friend.
Oh what a joy it is
to give the priceless
gift of friendship
that came from your heart!
It is the priceless gift of friendship.

Writing Poetry

Writing Poetry

Writing poetry
is what I love to do.
It is part of me,
part of my life.
I can’t explain it.
Just give me
a pen and
paper,
I’ll be happy.
I’ll express my thoughts,
my feelings, my ideas,
using my imagination,
knowing,
I might touch
someone’s heart and soul.
Oh what a great feeling !
I thank God everyday
for giving me
this talent,
writing poetry.

A TRAGEDY

A Tragedy

To defer one’s dream is a tragedy.

Time has ran out.

Another opportunity down the drain,

can’t recover it.

Gone!   Gone!   Gone!

Don’t let it happen to you.

THE LIZARD AND THE ROBIN

The Lizard and the Robin

The sun is glaring
with a few clouds
and a little breeze.
The lizard was pumping
as if it were doing sit-ups
trying to impress
a female lizard.
A robin appeared.
“Oh my lizard !
How masculine you look !
How strong you look
for being small!”
“Well thank-you, my friend!
I’m just trying to
impress my girl
but no such luck.” The lizard said.
The robin said, “Be yourself and
you’ll truly impress her.”

YOUR LOVE

Today Belongs to Love

Your Love

I love the way
you look at me,
your face lights up
like a bright star.
I love the way
you call me darling or honey.
I love the way
you say I love you, darling.
I love the way
you touch me, hold me,
kiss me.
I love the way
you love me
and care for me.
I love the way
you make me happy.
I love the way
you treat me
like a woman should be treated.
I love the way
you make everyday
special with me.
No one can love me
the way you do.
I love you, darling,
just the way you are.

OUT IN THE COUNTRY

Out in the Country

Laughing and running through the fields
With the wind blowing through my hair
And stopping to smell the wild flowers
And gathering the pretty ones for a bouquet.
Smell the air!   Fresh and clean!
Not like the air in the city.
What a pleasure to spend a day
Out here in the country!
Stop!   Look!   And listen!
There’s a pretty butterfly sitting
On top of the wild flower
And it’s glad to be out here, too.
Over yonder a robin perched on the tree limb
Singing a joyful song.
Oh boy!   The sun is going down
And time to go back to the city.
What a bummer!

JUDGE’S PRAYER

Judge’s Prayer

Oh God, I’m only human
And I sure ain’t perfect
So I do misjudge the defendants
That comes before me in court.
Help me, oh, God, to make sure
That justice has been served fairly,
To make the guilty ones pay
And the innocent ones go free.
Give me the wisdom, knowledge and guidance
In my decisions for every case
That goes before me;
Because, God, you’re the only one
Except for the defendant who knows for sure
If he or she is guilty or not guilty.
